Glock 17 Flush Light - "There is not one light. Two lights are one. Three lights prepare at least!" This has been in my head since the first day I entered the academy. This was quickly followed by "Your batteries will all fail when you need them most, no matter how many you have in 3 million lights He's used up his tactical lumens!"
Thanks to its engineering, the GL19R is no larger and no heavier to implement than most industry standard non-discrete WML systems. (Victor Masters)
Glock 17 Flush Light
These words of wisdom have proven true on many occasions when some of my industry standard handheld and weapon mounted lights (WML) have gone out or malfunctioned at the worst possible times. These failures at critical moments and the wise words of caution from my teachers reinforced one thing in my mind: Brand name and high price do not always equate to quality or reliability.
Do Pistols Benefit From Popular Aftermarket Modifications?
I recently had the opportunity to test the FenixGL19R WML. While FenixLighting is no stranger to the lighting game, they are fairly new to the WML market. The GL19R was nicely packaged in a durable plastic case that held the WML and a USB-C charging port for its replaceable battery.
Right off the bat, the rechargeable battery feature is a game changer. Most pro-level flashlights are rechargeable, however the WML hasn't stuck with this option, mainly due to size constraints fitting a battery and a charging port into the WML's compact size without adding bulk or weight.
Thanks to its engineering, the GL19R is no larger and no heavier to implement than most industry standard non-discrete WML systems. In fact, the GL19R is slightly smaller and lighter than my Streamlight TLR-1HL. The included USB-C cable gives you multiple options for charging via a computer, wall charger or power bank, and the GL19R is rated for up to two hours before needing a charge.
The rubber USB-C port cover keeps water and dust out of the charging port, and the GL19R's 2-meter water rating further helps it perform, especially in the conditions I work with in the Pacific Northwest.

The GL19R's forward-thinking attachment mount makes attaching it to your pistol quick and easy. Installation simply requires lifting a lever on the side of the GL19R to unlock it, moving it onto the track, and then pushing the rear leg down to lock it into place. The lever sits flush with the side of the GL19R and does not stick out or give way.
The top of the GL19R has a recessed "lock," which is a small horizontal bar designed specifically for Glock rails that helps maintain the position of the GL19R by allowing the horizontal rail to slot into the bottom of your Glock stock . weapon
While the GL19R is very secure with its joystick hold system, the horizontal travel further stabilizes the GL19R and eliminates any possibility of forward movement when manipulating the light controls. The beauty of this system is that it eliminates the need for a screw or other suitable object to secure the WML in place. If the GL19R has play when secured, there is a small screw on the side that can be tightened to loosen the grip on your pistol grip.
I was able to quickly attach the GL19R to my Glock 17 pistol without any problems. The GL19R also mounts to my Heckler & Koch VP9 Picatinny MIL-STD-1913 rail and my Heckler & Koch P2000 rail with no issues or adjustments needed to keep it tight on the rail.

For those who carry their pistol on duty or just don't like a loose WML holster, the GL19R is the perfect solution to being able to quickly remove your WML at the end of your shift to go home and then when get back to work. reconnect it for use in the task.
Speaking of footwear, an important consideration when choosing a WML is "Will it fit at my duty station?" You can have the fastest and most affordable WML gun and setup out there; however, unless there is a blade to meet your department's storage and durability requirements, that fast weapon and WML will never see a day of use.
Fortunately, the GL19R attached to my Glock 17 and fit into my Level III Safariland 6360 holster designed for the Streamlight TLR-1HL without issue. There was no wobble or other issues, and in the many practice pulls I did, the GL19R never caught or hung on the holster. It also fits my Safariland 6360 Heckler & Koch VP9 and P2000 boots with no problem or adjustment needed for the boot retaining screw.
Now that I had the GL19R secured in the Glock 17 and ready for action, it was time to test its operating controls. Since the lights only used one lever that had to be moved up and down to turn on and off, the two-way switch on the back was a surprise.

Activating the power button with your trigger finger was very simple and natural. The same was true when I started to dry with my left thumb in its natural forward position to activate the on/off button with my left hand. A quick double tap of the on/off switch activates the strobe feature.
Most industry standard WML systems are rated at around 800 to 1000 lumens, but the GL19R is rated at 1200 lumens. There was a noticeable difference in brightness compared to my Streamlight TLR-1HL, and even with that extra brightness, it didn't wash out the lens or subject I was lighting in strong light, which can be confusing not only for a blind suspect, but also for the officer.
The GL19R even comes with two brightness settings. "Standard" is a softer, more diffused light and "Turbo" is a brighter light. Both are lightweight with minimal on/off button manipulation.
Another major selling point for me is that it's almost impossible to accidentally activate the strobe feature. If you've ever flashed at night, there's a good chance you or someone close to you has blinded the entire group and accidentally activated the strobe function on your WML. While there is a strobe feature on the GL19R, it requires two quick taps of the on/off button to activate.

If you're in the market for a new WML that's rechargeable, bright, durable, and easy to attach/detach, I highly recommend checking out the FenixGL19R. After spending a few weeks with it, I wouldn't hesitate to keep it as part of my duty setup on my Glock 17. It's lighter, brighter and easier to manipulate than many of the industry standard WML systems out there today, and its price also makes it ideal for those who don't need to own their own equipment or upgrade from the pocket. make a transaction.

He has worked as a patrol officer, forensics officer, intelligence officer and public servant. Since 2016, he has been appointed information officer and general contractor. The new SIG M17 is the first general purpose pistol issued by the US military to come with a rail system from the start. Gun lights are an invaluable tool for anyone who carries a gun professionally or for defensive purposes, whether indoors or outdoors. Concealed carry is no longer just a civilian concern. The Army specifically adopted the SIG M18, a compact version of the M17, to make the weapon easier to conceal. Small guns need smaller lights, and the TLR-7 is a smaller light than the Streamlight.
Smaller size often comes with lower performance, but with the TLR-7, you'd be hard-pressed to make that argument. This small and compact weapon light still packs 500 lumens of light with a reported beam distance of 140 meters. The light runs off a single CR123A battery and will give you 1.5 hours of run time.
Dimensional The TLR-7 is 2.15 inches long, 1.27 inches tall and 1.18 inches wide. Its total weight is 2.4 ounces. It's a small light, with a reasonable runtime and a powerful enough beam for most applications. It won't replace the TLR 1 or Surefire X300, but as far as small lights go, it will get the job done.
Review: Xr920 From Shadow Systems
The TLR-7 fits best with compact handguns the same size as the Glock 19. The light fits most guns of this size and allows you to reduce the size of the gun when attaching a light. It's stupid to connect an entire light to a complex weapon. At that point, only carry a full-length weapon
